Executors are paid by the estate.
As professional estate executors, we’re bound by the same rules of compensation as anyone appointed to the task.
In British Columbia, executors are entitled to a maximum compensation of 5% of the overall estate value, unless otherwise stated in the Will. The specific % rate we charge will depend entirely on the size and complexity of the estate.
It’s worth noting that an estate executor doesn’t receive full compensation until the job is complete and the remaining assets are distributed – often 12 months or more after undertaking the task.
